Relive and play the early history of Spain in the second game in the Invasions series.
Grenoble, January 30, 2025.

Avalon Digital is pleased to announce the release of the computer game Hispania, developed in collaboration with the Spanish companies Headquarter Games and Pixel Ratio, with the official support of the Spanish Ministry of Culture.

Hispania is the computer adaptation of a famous historical board game, originally designed by Andreas Steding in 1994, which depicts the 2,000-year history of the Hispanic Peninsula. The game begins with the Carthaginian invasion in 240 BC. The game begins in the 13th century BC and continues through the ages to the key events of the Reconquista in the 13th century, with all the numerous struggles between Celts, Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, Visigoths, Umayyads, Castilians, and many other nations and tribes.
The original board game was a great one, and the digital version retains the fun and bling, tweaks some rules for simplicity, and, as in our version of Britannia, leaves the cumbersome part to the computer.
Hispania
Hispania is the second game in the Invasions series. It allows players to recreate the epic history of Spain, reenacting important battles in some cases and altering the course of history in others. The game rules discourage players from making historically unrealistic moves, but they also give them the freedom to significantly alter Spain’s early history, creating countless interesting « what if » scenarios.
What if the Carthaginians hadn’t been defeated by the Romans, or if the declining Visigothic kingdom had resisted the Muslim invasion of 709 AD? Or if the great state of Al-Andalus had survived its fragmentation and reunited sufficiently to resist the Christian offensive of the 12th century?

Key Features
Hispania uses the core mechanics of the previously released Britannia game and has received its own set of rules and special features, tailored to the story you’ll be experiencing and playing, and offering even more action than its famous predecessor. Britannia users will feel comfortable with the game mechanics and most of the rules, as well as the gameplay.
The game features four scenarios of varying lengths. Including a grand 21-turn campaign spanning 1,200 years!
The game is translated from French into English, Spanish, and Portuguese in the base version. German, Russian, and Italian will be available soon, with Chinese planned.
List of Scenarios
Rex Hispaniae: The full campaign, beginning in the 2nd century BC and ending in the 13th century AD.
Furor Barbarorum: A campaign beginning in the 6th century with the Germanic invasions of the peninsula.
Al-Andalus: A campaign beginning in the early 8th century with the Muslim conquest.
Reconquista: A campaign beginning in the 12th century, when the northern Christian kingdoms began to move towards the south.
Hispania is available on PC and Mac, playable solo against the AI or in multiplayer for 2 to 4 players, for a base price of $/€28.99.
