Steam Keys?

Hi --

I purchased the 2017 bundle directly from Avalon Digital / Strategaie.

-- it would be nice to have this purchase recorded in steam

-- the main reason is to ensure that scenario updates (for example, the recent updates) are automatically applied

Would it be possible to generate steam keys for DLC purchased directly rather than from steam?

Our scenarios are updated here, you can re-download them. This said, I understand this is more convenient for many people to get Steam keys.

For now we are not equiped to process them, we need to investigate the different workings before implementing them

It's not easy to really know about WAW. You should have a clear message about it.

  •  Is this a computer game? (we have to guess it, but we're not sure they are the computer part of a boardgame)
  •  How many players? Is there an AI? Only and exactly 2 players are alowed?
  •  What is the protection politic? Is this DRM-free (however with a key-code), is Steam or its Workshop compelled (to DL the game, patch it, mod it, ..)
  •  No patch are shown, so we imagine it's a Steam game, the game is patch through 3rd party software
  •  Are the DLC really are so, or they don't need a base game (not said on their pages), and which?

Maybe since long I'd have bought the game if I was set about all this

Okay so I bought.

It is to be said the game is made to be played 1 (there's an AI) to 4 players, if the scenario allows.

The protection is by a classical serial number, but there is still a "kind of DRM" as we're told allowed to download no more than 6 times (1 from just bought, and 5 by our account) the game and each scenario (even the free). I know 6 times would suffice, but some may have no luck and has to reinstall its system too much often. Too, I know who wants a drm-free game means it is the responsability of the customer to keep secure his files.

It seems, if we want, to use in no way Steam or other.

Many informations are already written in some thread or scenario pages, but they should be put more trivially shown to the future customer..

Hello!

Steam key linked to our own account would be nice for the future, for sure, if you could implement it :-)

For now I store every files on different supports, computer, USB key... because I am a bit afraid to lost them.

But, to people who want the Steam key, just one general remark: I preferred to buy the game on the Official Shop instead (everytime when it is possible btw, like Slitherine, Matrix, GoG, etc... ) because of the Steam policy... I mean I don't like the idea that paying on Steam doesn't mean the game belongs to you. On Steam it is more like 'lifetime renting' of the games, + DRM-not-free, so if something, lets say 'bad', happends to Steam in the future (we never know, right?) everything you bought will be lost in the abyss.

So yes, Steam key would be really nice, but I really appreciate that this is not the only solution to get WAW for instance. Special thanks to the team for that.

Comments and questions to the team:

1) Maybe in the future you could consider a parternship with GoG as well to sell your products? Or Humble Bundle, because this last has the possibility to redeem Steam keys when you buy games on their plateform. Of course honestly I clearly don't know about their policies, etc...

2) I'm also confused about the amount of available downloads from our account (up to 5 only?). If by any accident or computer changes that number comes to 5, will we have the possibility to reset this counter, by sending you an email or any other solution?

We'll check how we could implement the Steam key thing, as it is a bit complicated because we don't sell the game ourselves via Steam (this is done by our pulbisher Plug-In Digital). In other words we don't have access to Steam keys, we must ask for them.

So I'll investigate this, to see if it does not come with a cost.

The second part will be to assign Steam keys to our game. Here again it is feasible by a process taking some time, as the shop was not designed to handle 2 serial keys per product, but only one. This would require extra (and costly) work on the shop. Will make an investigation for this too.
