still have not destroyed enough coastal batteries.
I note that batteries have the 'protected' status, so one hit each attack causes n.o damage. Having attacked two coastal batteries each turn, and having killed only two so far, I'm wondering if that 'protected' status should be disabled.
To be somewhat historical, the game should make it 'possible' but not inevitable that enough batteries could be destroyed by around turn 7. In short, leave it up the the player - if he fails to commit the air power to destroying batteries, so be it, he loses. If he does commit the air power, then he at least has a good chance of crossing by around turn 7 or 8.
